80s classics out on Blu-ray
While we will still have to wait a while until the likes of Back to the Future are brought to Blu-ray, a raft of top titles has already been brought to the hi-def format.
The term “80s classics” will have some critics scoffing at the mere suggestion that the era brought to us some top draw acting and cinematic excellence, yet it is hard to argue that the 80s gave us some great entertainment many people still fondly remember growing up watching the likes of The Goonies, Stand by Me, the latter two Star Wars films and Indiana Jones.
While some of these films are now out on Blu-ray, we eagerly await the release of other cherished movies. One such title out in the US this week is the underdog story of The Karate Kid. We will have to wait until July the 19th until it is out over here but it sounds quite promising, with a commentary featuring the director and cast including the late Pat Morita who played Mr Miyagi.
There are some fun titles due out as well during 2010 like the Queen inspired Flash Gordon which is out on the 28th of June and other new releases such as 48 Hours and Caddyshack.
